| Charles Ditto received a commission from veteran NYC performance artist Vernita N’Cognita. His composition “The Black Dress” was then performed in September 2012 as part of SoHo20’s annual performance series Savoir-Faire in NYC. Additionally, an 18-minute electro-acoustic soundscape by Ditto was published on S4G (Sound for Good) Records’ Oceans Music Project sponsored by the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society (WDCS) in San Francisco. Ditto is a senior lecturer in music theory and aural skills in the School of Music.

Daris Hale can be heard performing bassoon solos on the soundtrack of the new film, To The Wonder, directed by Terrence Malick, whose recent films, Tree of Life and Thin Red Line, were nominated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for Best Picture of the Year. To The Wonder, which is the last film reviewed by the late Roger Ebert, was released in the United States April 12, 2013. Hale recently participated in the International GLOMUS Conference in Tanzania at the university that hosted her as a Fulbright Scholar in 2010-2011. Hale is senior lecturer of bassoon in the School of Music. |

Hank Hehmsoth has been named a Fulbright Specialist. He will collaborate during summer 2013 with the Instituto Profesional Projazz in Santiago, Chile. Hehmsoth was also commissioned by the Kandinsky Trio for “Shades of Blue,” which was premiered April 16, 2013. Hehmsoth is a senior lecturer in jazz and composition in the School of Music. |

Butch Miles performed for a week in January 2013 with his quartet at Mariann’s Jazz Room in Bern, Switzerland, then performed in February in Erlangen, Germany, with an all-star international quintet for the annual Carnivale Festival. Next came a performance with jazz great Sammy Nestico and his LA All-Star Big Band as part of the Newport Beach Jazz Party from February 14 – 17. Miles is lecturer of jazz drumming in the School of Music. |
 Kathleen McShane Bolton had a solo exhibition of book-related drawings, collages and sculpture at Gridspace Gallery in NY (December 2012-January 2013). Her drawings were also included in the group exhibition "Giving Time to Time" with George Condo, Howard Kottler, Jim Shrosbree and Melissa Mitty at Paul Kotula Projects in Detroit. McShane Bolton is a part-time lecturer in Art and Design. |

Andy Campbell’s “Troubling Circuits,” a book review of Margot Weiss’ Techniques of Pleasure: BDSM and the Circuits of Sexuality, was recently published in GLQ (19.3). He has also written reviews for ArtForum.com, the catalogue essay for Steven Frost and Steven Vaiberg’s Chicago-area exhibition “Drinking From the Snake’s Mouth,” and a continuing short-form interview column entitled “Studio Visits” for the Austin Chronicle. Campbell is a senior lecturer in the School of Art and Design. |
 Katie Geha recently gave an invited lecture entitled “Phasing Dachau: Beryl Korot’s Video Tapestry” at the Conney Conference in the Jewish Arts at the University of Madison, Wisconsin. Geha is a part-time lecturer of art history in the School of Art and Design. |

Brian Johnson’s prints were included in ten exhibitions in 2012- 2013; in two of these, two of his prints garnering separate jurors’ awards. In addition, he was invited to create prints for two print portfolio exchanges. The Artist Printmaker Research Collection, housed at the Amarillo Museum of Art, acquired 40 of Johnson’s prints, and his work was featured on the cover of Graphic Impressions fall edition and on the corresponding SGC International website. Johnson is a senior lecturer in the School of Art and Design. |
 Carin Rodenborn will be participating in three upcoming exhibitions in the Fall of 2013: Outstretch, a solo show at Blackbox Gallery in Austin, TX, Collapse at Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS, and Transamplitude at BLUEorange Gallery in Houston, TX. She was recently featured in a Studio Visits interview by Andy Campbell in the Austin Chronicle. Rodenborn is a full-time lecturer of drawing, painting and design in the School of Art and Design. |

Paige Bishop conducted several improvisation workshops in central Texas including workshop auditions for a new Improvisation Troupe: Playback Theatre in Austin; rehearsal strategies for Theatre Certification majors at Texas State; and ensemble-building theatre games for the cast of Shakespeare Under the Stars at the Emily Ann Theatre in Wimberley. Bishop is a senior lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Dance. |

Linda Nenno Breining directed Troilus and Cressida for Austin Shakespeare and Schoolhouse Rock, which toured the Austin schools. She will be appearing in her cabaret Act, Mostly Sondheim in Colorado this summer and will soon be seen in the independent film Sad Sarah as Tsetse. Breining is a lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Dance.
Claire Canavan published an article about actor training and generative creativity in the peer-reviewed journal Theatre Topics in 2012. The piece will be reprinted in the anthology, Collective Creation in Contemporary Performance (forthcoming in 2013 from Palgrave). She presented a new paper about re-enactments of iconic experimental theatre productions at the Performance Studies International conference in June of 2013 at Stanford University. Canavan is a lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Dance.
Caroline Sutton Clark continues to work on her PhD in Dance through the low residency program at Texas Woman’s University, and she achieved ABD status this spring, 2013. Her dissertation research focuses on dance in the Austin community through oral history methodology. Clark also specializes in the investigation of curtain calls, and she presented a paper on dance curtain calls in relation to performance theory at a symposium in St. Louis in the fall of 2012. Clark is a lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Dance.

After 8 years of teaching at Texas State, Tom Copeland has helped find employment for over 60 students and former students in the Film/Television industry. From Amy Poehler's personal assistant to full time positions with Robert Rodriquez's company Troublemaker Studios, Copeland’s students are working as production assistants, writers, and research assistants in Los Angeles, New York, and Texas. Copeland is a lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Dance. |
Tammy Fife has been named Director of the Strutters, effective July 2013. Fife, a Texas State alumnus and former Strutter, will look to continue the tradition and success the program has been known to produce. Fife is a senior lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Dance.

Kaitlin Hopkins is acting in Present Laughter at the Two River Theatre in New Jersey in June. The show is directed by nine-time Emmy winner David Lee and Kaitlin co-stars with actor Michael Cumpsty. Hopkins is a senior lecturer and the Head of Musical Theatre in the Department of Theatre and Dance. |

Eugene Lee was nominated for an Austin Critics Table Award for Acting in a Leading Role for his performance in the title role of the University’s 2013 production of Richard III. He had a role in the feature film, Parkland, and performed voice over roles for the video games “Wizard,” “Pirates,” and “Shadow Warrior.” His new play, Lyin’ Ass, was work-shopped in March 2013 at the August Wilson Center in Pittsburgh. His East Texas Hot Links screenplay adaptation moved past the first hurdle toward inclusion in the 2013 Sundance development program, and his film, Wolf, screened at the Los Angeles Pan African Film Festival and the Buffalo New York Black Film Festival. In April 2013, Lee was a participant in Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company Celebrity Golf Tournament in Atlanta. Lee is Artist-in-Residence in the Department of Theatre and Dance. |

Monica Michell and her students developed an original Theatre in Education piece based on wisdom folk tales from around the world then performed the piece and facilitated a day-long theatre workshop with upper elementary Montessori school students in the spring of 2013. Her play, Noteworthy, which addresses the subject of bullying in middle school, continues to be performed throughout central Texas. Another of Michell’s plays, In the Company of Sinners and Saints, was recently performed in Ocala, Florida. Her newest play, Because Nobody Gets Out Alive will have a reading in San Marcos this summer. Michell is a senior lecturer and the Head of Teacher Certification in the Department of Theatre and Dance. |
Bryan Poyser is a two-time Independent Spirit Award nominee whose feature film, The Bounceback, premiered at the 2013 SXSW Festival in Austin and will continue to play at festivals throughout the year. Poyser is a lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Dance.

Jeremy O. Torres produced the annual event Drag Out Funny at Texas Music Theatre for the Bobcat Pride Scholarship Fund in October 2012 that raised over 5,000 dollars for the LBGTQ community of students at Texas State. He also directed Dustin Lance Black’s play 8 about marriage equality in the University Ballroom in April 2013 with professional actors and students. The play was followed by a rousing panel discussion featuring local business owners, lawyers, psychiatrists, and members of Equality Texas. Jeremy also coached three regional finalists at the annual Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival with one of his teams advancing to the finals.
